Connecting youth to the food they eat, the land on which it grows, and to each other. Cultivating young leaders through the meaningful work of building a healthy local food system. Inspiring youth to create personal and social change.
50% of the time is devoted to hands on farm work. Youth become proficient in basic farm tasks like preparing beds, tomato staking and twining, and harvesting/post harvest handling.
Culinary Skills Development
LEAF provides youth with the opportunity to develop culinary skills and to work alongside accomplished chefs in our region.
At LEAF, youth participate in public outreach events that range from cooking a meal for people at Salvation Army using produce from our farm to hosting educational workshops with preschool children.
The youth at the LEAF Project are a diverse group from many different backgrounds. At LEAF, they learn how to embrace their differences in order to form long lasting bonds.
