Open Positions

This internship is for youth, between the ages of 14 and 18, who want to spend their summer outside doing meaningful work with their peers. Through seven weeks, youth interns will learn about the food system through hands-on farmwork, culinary lessons and practices with executive chefs, visits to area farms, public outreach, and interactive workshops. LEAF has hired students from all different towns and school districts, and is dedicated to creating a diverse crew of young people. This internship is meant to connect youth to each other and their food system, all while developing their unique leadership capacities and workforce skills. LEAF does not require any prior knowledge or experience in agriculture, cooking, or public speaking. For more detailed information and FAQ's about the internship, check out this page.

Youth have the ability to earn up to $1000 during their summer, and also have the opportunity to continue working with LEAF during the school year and beyond. If youth have schedule conflicts during the course of the program, please apply and note this in your application.

Crew Leader

This internship with LEAF is ideal for those individuals who are interested in youth development, sustainability, sustainable agriculture, and food justice. Crew Leaders are responsible for leading Level 1 Youth Interns (ages 14-18) throughout their first summer in the program, through all of their daily activities. The role involves a lot of one-on-one coaching and support for those on your crew, working in service to their leadership development.

Crew Leaders will also be exposed to different forms of agriculture within the local food system, including diversified vegetable production, at a small and medium scale, cheese making, butchering and curing, and flower farming. In addition, crews work with executive chefs in the region, learning cooking skills and ways to use local, seasonal produce.
