During the summer season, LEAF provides a weekly share of produce grown on our farm, with the option to supplement with various value-added products from our partner farms. The produce is raised by the youth in our program, providing them with meaningful work opportunities that show them their unique potential.
There are three options to choose from that determine the size and content of your share. They are:
Each week, members receive a combination of various in season items grown on the LEAF farm, with a $10 total value. The two photos above show the types of produce (in terms of quantity and variety) included in a weekly share.
Produce + Farmer's choice Share:
Each week, members receive the same mix of produce from LEAF as the produce share, and also receive a rotating "add-on" item from one of our partner farms, with a $5 value, selected by the LEAF staff each week. This would bring the total weekly value of your share to $15. Look at the list below under "Partner Farms" to learn more about what an "add-on" might be.
Produce + Your choice share:
In addition to the weekly produce share from the LEAF Farm, members have the option to choose a consistent weekly add-on from the different partner farm categories (meat, dairy, bread, and fruit). Each additional add-on category adds another $5 weekly value to your share. Here is an example of how value would change with this share:
Produce + Meat + Fruit = $10 + $5 + $5 = $20 value each week in LEAF produce and partner farm meat and fruit
LEAF offers two sessions for the summer and fall:
- Session A: week of June 19 to the week of August 7
- Session B: week of August 21 to the week of October 23
There are two available pick up locations for shares. The first is at the LEAF Farm, at 554 Warm Springs Road in Landisburg. The second is in Carlisle at 412 Lincoln St. Shares can be picked up every Monday for both sessions between 4:30 and 8 pm. Pick whichever location is more convenient for you!
Partner Farms and Add-ons
LEAF partners with different farmers in the region to provide the youth in the program a more diverse picture of farming, beyond raising vegetables. These farms, in addition to their own streams of distribution, sell their product to LEAF so that it can be included in our LEAF Kits program and also as "add-ons" for our shares. Below is a list of the different farms we work with, and what they contribute as part of the Partner Farm and Partner Farm Plus shares:
- Three Springs Fruit Farm: apples, peaches, and other fruits
- Talking Breads: freshly baked artisan breads in a variety of flavors, and pasture-raised pork and chicken
- Keswick Creamery: aged and fresh cheeses from pasture-raised cows
- North Mountain Pastures: pasture-raised beef and pork
