With Help from Chef John Reis, LEAF cooked fresh, local food for over 100 people at the Salvation Army! Special thanks to Dickinson College Farm and Earth Springs Farm for the extra produce, it was awesome!
The LEAF Project (Leadership Education And Farming) is a farm-based youth employment program. Located in South Central PA, LEAF provides paid internships to youth, ages 14-18, to work alongside farmers and chefs in our region. Last year, LEAF employed 12 youth, educated ( 300+) community members through youth-led cooking demonstrations, and provided food to (2,000+) people in need in our community.
Lynn Darby is an amazing young talent, who saw a problem in our community, food insecurity, and volunteered his own time to help develop a solution which is long-term, and empowers participants instead of giving them a hand out. In this video he describes why he wanted to solve this problem, and the solution that he helped to come up with.
This is a brief thank you to the Partnership for Better Health for their support of the LEAF Project
